If you don't maintain at least a token kill threat, it completely changes the way their team can play against you. They can devote 100% of their skills, attention, and energy to pushing kills through. Their monks will be putting all of their energy into veils and draws. Their midline can completely ignore their defensive duties to look for opportunities to disrupt your blinds or punish someone doing something stupid. And that's not even counting bizarre stuff like 4-man full bodyblocks and then just strip-training the poor schmuck in the middle into the ground. Or that on most maps they could bodyblock your mesmer fleet with any subset of characters (say, two defensive midline and a runner) and just push lord damage with the rest with no fear of losing anything at either end.
